Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — The general attorney has sought death sentence for a convicted rapist. The 25-year-old man was found guilty of kidnapping a 21-year-old woman and raping her with two accomplices. "The woman was leaving her college and waiting outside for a taxi. The man approached her and offered to drop her off. She accepted and got into the car. She then noticed he was taking a different route than the one she has described," a court source said. The source added she told the man to stop and drop her off immediately. "He told her he was taking as shortcut. He then drove her to a deserted area where two of his accomplices were waiting. They stripped her down and beat her up. They raped her and took several pictures of the act," said the source. The source added the rapists stole all of her belongings and abandoned her. "The rapist is currently in Briman Prison. The victim is suing him for emotional and psychological affliction. She said that she is suffering from anxiety and insomnia because of the horrid incident. She often has fits," said the source. The source also said the victim said the rapists were on hashish. "The victim presented medical reports proving her condition. The Penal Court will begin hearing on the quantum of punishment in a few days," said the source. The source added the General Attorney considers rape a clear crime that deserves no mercy. "He is opposing any sentence other than death. He said what the rapists have done is unforgivable and shoulod not be tolerated. He said such violence is unacceptable in a Muslim society and Shariah law has to apply in this case," said the source.
