India's cricket selectors Tuesday left out batsmen Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly for the ICC Champions Trophy tournament in September, raising doubts over the veterans' one-day careers. The former captains were not included among the 30 probables announced for the Sept. 11-28 tournament in Pakistan, despite scoring more than 10,000 runs in one-day internationals. Left-handed Ganguly, who turned 36 on Tuesday, is the world's fourth-highest scorer with 11,363 runs in 311 matches with 22 centuries. He played his last one-dayer in November 2007. Dravid, 35, has also not played a one-dayer this year as selectors look to build a team for the 2011 World Cup to be held in South Asia. His last match was in October 2007. Dravid has scored 10,585 runs in 333 one-dayers with 12 hundreds. India's Sachin Tendulkar, Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya, Pakistan's Inzamamul Haq, Australian Ricky Ponting and West Indian Brian Lara are the other batsmen to have completed 10,000 runs in the shorter version of the game. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is India's one-day and Twenty20 captain, while veteran spinner Anil Kumble leads the Test side. Tendulkar returns Leading India batsman Sachin Tendulkar will return from injury in the three-Test series against Sri Lanka, while wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni will sit out the first part of the tour due to fatigue. Selectors named a 16-member Test squad on Tuesday that was missing limited-over skipper and Test vice captain Dhoni, who indicated he would like to take a break from the sport after India's loss to Sri Lanka in Sunday's Asia Cup final in Pakistan. The 27-year-old is expected to return for the five one-dayers that follow the Test series starting in Colombo on July 23. Tendulkar, who has suffered a number of niggling injuries in recent years, has been out of international cricket since he suffered a groin problem in the first home Test against South Africa in March. The selectors have also recalled off spinner Harbhajan Singh after he missed the last two one-day series due to a ban for slapping national teammate S. Sreesanth during a domestic Twenty20 game. The Tests will be played in Colombo (July 23-27), Galle (July 31-Aug. 4) and Colombo (Aug. 8-12).
