King Abdullah and world peace
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 01 - 12 - 2011

Astudy by the Royal Center in Jordan, in cooperation with the Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal Center at Georgetown University in the US, established that King Abdullah, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, topped a list of the 500 most influential Muslim personalities in the world.
The 500 Muslim personalities on the list have influenced events not only in the Arab world but across the globe. Therefore, their role is very important because the entire world shares mutual interests and the future of one nation is linked with that of others.
As a result of the study, King Abdullah has been awarded an international certificate in recognition of the role he plays in global affairs. King Abdullah's policies, which are based on tolerance, peace and dialogue, have great influence in the affairs of other nations, especially those that are troubled by internal difficulties.
King Abdullah's policies have helped correct often-distorted notions about Islam. The King has supported inter-faith dialogues to foster understanding and coexistence among nations.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques reinforces the value of mutual understanding and stability in Arab and Muslim countries and supports projects aimed at spreading peace. These endeavors are transparent and are clearly understood by the citizens themselves.
This is the second time that King Abdullah has earned the honor of being named among the most influential people in the world. Forbes Magazine recently listed him as sixth out of the 70 most influential personalities in the world.
The magazine praised the King's decision to grant women the right to vote and run for elected positions in municipal councils and to be members of the Shoura Council. Senior officials in Islamic organizations have praised King Abdullah for his support for Islamic projects and for his untiring efforts aimed at solving Muslim issues.
As citizens of the Kingdom, we should take pride in the honors bestowed upon King Abdullah, who has also worked hard to serve the interests of his people and to promote the welfare of the nation.
