Under the aegis of Riyadh Odisha Socio-Cultural Association (ROSA), expatriates from India's eastern state of Odisha residing in Riyadh and Al-Kharj area organized an event recently in Riyadh to popularize the culture, art and ethos of the state which is ninth largest by area in India. The Chief Guest of the evening, Dev Mohanty, a successful businessman and philanthropist of Odisha origin and the Chairman and Managing Director of ASMACS Group, congratulated the ROSA members for serving the community, nurturing young talents and spreading the goodwill of Odisha in the foreign land. ROSA president Mohammad Fazal Haque recalled the festival season of Kartik Purnima back home and its theme which extols the adventures of Odiyah youth on their journey through the Indian Ocean, embarking on the maritime trading of Kalinga (old name of Odisha) with South East Asia. A special souvenir edited by Mohd.Tanweer Raza, Mohd. Shamsher Ali and supported by Razik Wakil was released to commemorate the occasion. Vice President Mohd. Shamsher Ali urged the members to help develop educational and literary activities. General Secretary Debasis Monanty offered the vote of thanks. The main attraction of the event was a cultural program conceptualized by the ROSA Advisor Dr. M. K. Patra and supported by cultural secretaries Sisir Mund and Saroj Panigrahi. The cultural program included dance items choreographed by Deepa Panigrahi, anchored by Sampa Mund and performed by children of ROSA members. The second part of cultural program was an innovative quiz-based entertainment and a comedy video show anchored by Dr. (Mrs) Renuka Patra and Dr. M.K.Patra. ROSA is on a mission to showcase the achievements of the Odisha community. Its motto is: “We Dream, We Believe, We Care and We Achieve.”
