Motor insurance companies are planning to increase rates for accident prone motorists. They also plan to punish drivers with a record of Saher violations and those who have incurred multiple traffic tickets. The companies hope the hikes will help them recoup some of the losses they sustain every year. These include payouts to accident victims who often need a lifetime of medical care. Insurance companies have been liaising with governmental departments to “reach an agreement that would allow them access to all necessary traffic records and information for the insured.” Under the plan motorists with a history of “traffic violations or road accidents while they have been insured will have their rates hiked by as much as 50 percent.” The insurance companies claim the hike in insurance prices “will correspond directly with the number of traffic violations or accidents committed.” They say “drivers who obey traffic laws and who haven't committed accidents will be exempted from any increase.” __
