Saudi Gazette A Saudi student wanted to bring a taste of Saudi culture to the United States. Munira Bint Abdullah Al-Shehri is studying for her Master's Degree in education at the University of Lawrence in Kansas. She organized and personally covered the expenses of a Saudi heritage exhibition that she put on display at the university. The exhibition showcased a wide range of household items passed on from generation to generation in Saudi families. Munira brought collectibles that are important in the traditional Saudi home, such as: bakhur pots and incense used to diffuse the strong but pleasant fragrance throughout the typical Saudi house. Additional items included baskets, coffee pots, the small cups for Saudi coffee, natural black eyeliner, henna, women's jewelry, kitchen utensils, rugs, traditional dress of Saudi men and women, and many paintings and decorations. She also distributed books and information pamphlets about Saudi society, culture, and history. Munira who is also the vice-president of the Saudi Club in the university said, “What inspired my idea to set up a Saudi exhibition is the huge number of questions I receive from American students and also students of other nationalities about life in Saudi Arabia. So many people are curious about the Saudi lifestyle and the social environment in the Kingdom. With the help and cooperation of my family in Saudi Arabia, the exhibition was a success. My family collected traditional Saudi items from different regions of the Kingdom and shipped them to me to the United States.” The Saudi exhibition attracted a large number of students and professors alike. Visitors admired the beautiful collectibles, learned a lot, and tried on traditional Saudi clothes. __
