Makkah Mayoralty is looking into the performance of its employees during the Haj period. Staff found to have been negligent in the performance of their duties will be punished, while those who have worked diligently will be rewarded. A special 15-member committee will assess the work performance of all employees during the Haj, especially those involved in cleaning up operations. “The committee will investigate any shortcomings in the performance of our staff to overcome problems in the future,” said Mayor of Makkah Dr. Osama Bin Fadhl Al-Bar. He said that the standard of cleanliness in the holy city is much better than last year. However, he admitted that the job was not over and a lot of work still needed to be done. The mayor said it will be even better when the new Mina tube cleaning program comes into effect next year. This project will pump Mina's waste to massive underground storage chambers. Surveillance cameras are to be installed throughout the holy sites which will be linked to the new headquarters of the mayoralty. If any problems arise, all 25 mayoralty branches will be informed so that a solution can be found. “We are sparing no effort to ensure that next year's Haj runs even more smoothly for the Guests of Allah,' said Dr. Al
