Leading experts will address the annual Saudi-Japan petroleum refining and petrochemical conference to be held at the Research Institute of the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) on Nov. 27 and 28. The conference, now on its 21st year, is jointly organized by the Japan Cooperation Center Petroleum (JCCP), Japan Petroleum Institute (JPI), and KFUPM. The conference will focus on catalysts in petroleum refining and petrochemicals. Experts from Saudi Aramco and KFUPM will also present the strides achieved by the Kingdom in refining and petrochemicals in the field of catalysts. The local speakers are Dr. Mohammad Hasan Zahir of KFUPM's Chemistry Department, Dr. Yuguo Wang of Saudi Aramco, Dr. Mohammed Hashim of Saudi Aramco, and Dr. Muhammad Atiqullah, KFUPM-RI. The international speakers include: Dr. Takahito Torii of Idemitsu Kosan Company of Japan, Sachio Asaoka of University of Kitakyushu, Koichi Segawa of Sophia University of Japan, Mikio Miyake of Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Johannes Lercher of Munich, Toshimitsu Suzuki of Japan Kansai University, Jacques Vedrine of Curie, France, Takashi Tatsumi of the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Takahisa Horie of JGC Catalysts and Chemicals. Dr. Khaled S. Al-Sultan, rector of KFUPM, will formally inaugurate the conference and deliver the opening address. __
