The Director of Parallel Education and the Ministry of Education in Eastern Province has given the green signal election to managing committee of International Indian School, Dammam (IISD) in October when school reopens after the summer break. The term of office of the previous managing committee expired on June 9, last month. IISD Principal E.K. Mohammed Shaffe said a circular regarding the details of the election process has been issued to school parents, so that the interested parents can participate in the election, and that the election date will be affirmed only after a meeting of the election committee. The Election Committee includes officials from the Ministry of Education and Embassy of India, Riyadh and representatives of school parents. The election will be held in October when the school reopens after summer holidays. The current managing committee will continue until the election of a new committee. According to school authorities, a voters list showing the eligible patents will be finalized by 16 July. Parents have been asked to ascertain that their names appear on the list. Parents whose wards appeared for the 12th grade exam, or are fee defaulters, or whose spouse is employed in the school, will not be eligible to vote. Parents can check the updated list on the school website. IISD was established on 10th October1982, with a strength of 250 students and 15 teachers. Today IISD, one of the biggest schools in the Gulf, stands at 14100 students, over 600 teachers, 30 administrative staff and a fleet of 70 buses. But it was only in 2002, that a school managing committee with the inclusion of parents came to effect. The present managing committee was elected in 2005 under the chairmanship of Dr. Mumtaz Ali Khan. __
