IN his meeting with commanders of Haj security in Makkah on Tuesday, Crown Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, said that every citizen is a security man. By this, he meant that everyone in this country is duty-bound to help preserve the nation's security. The Crown Prince also discussed the misfortune of young men who stray from the right path and blindly follow the advocates of deviant thoughts who encourage them to act against their own country. The provocateurs, who are serving a wayward ideology, have been trying to exploit young men by implanting bizarre ideas and theories in their minds for evil purposes. These ideas and theories are alien to Saudi culture and often deviate from the right teachings of Islam. When the Crown Prince said that every citizen is a security man, he was referring to the concept of comprehensive security and was making it clear that the security and stability of the country is not only the responsibility of the government but also of the citizenry. Furthermore, in his wisdom and farsighted vision, Prince Naif also stressed the importance of “intellectual security”, stating that the fight against terrorism and extremism cannot be won without the hearts and minds of the people. The Crown Prince called for the nation's youth to be armed with an intellect capable of detecting misconceptions about Islam which deviant groups spread with the use of modern telecommunications. Deviant groups have always distorted the right teachings of Islam to entice youths to join them. Those who join often find out too late that they have been duped by wrong ideas. The Crown Prince stressed the importance of fortifying the intellectual faculties of the nation's youth so that their knowledge will guide them to the right path. __
