The customary annual replacement of the Kiswa of the Ka'ba was carried out Saturday by the personnel of the General Presidency of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. The cover is 658 square meters in size and is made of 670 kg of silk. The embroidery contains 15 kg of gold threads. It consists of 47 pieces of cloth and each piece is 14 m long and 101 cm wide. The Kiswa is wrapped around the Ka'ba and fixed to the ground with copper rings. The total cost of making the Kiswa is SR20 million.
