The Ministry of Health has warned nurses that it will not allow them to wear jeans, tight clothing, jewelry and accessories in government hospitals and medical centers. The ministry has issued several circulars regarding the dress code for nurses. Moreover, it formed a committee five years ago to study introducing a uniform dress code for Saudi health professionals working at hospitals and polyclinics. The committee recommended that all clothing should comply with the Shariah and that nurses' hair and heads should be well covered. There was also a ban on tight and transparent clothes and those which had photographs or any writing on them. In addition, health workers were warned not to walk inside or outside health facilities wearing delivery room scrubs. They should also not wear jewelry, accessories, nail polish and cosmetics. Dr. Khaled Marghalani, Ministry of Health spokesman, said that the ministry is monitoring the situation to ensure both citizens and expatriates comply with the regulations. __
