American singer Mary McBride performs with her band in Jeddah. Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Mary McBride, the American singer is touring around the world to deliver the message that music is one of the main tools that can break all barriers between people. She was recently in Jeddah to perform at the US Consulate. In an exclusive interview with Saudi Gazette, McBride said that she believes in the term ‘music for peace' to unify the world. She added that Arabic music contains wonderful instruments that enhance creativity of musicians. McBride has performed over 500 live shows in US and Europe and she was also chosen by Sir Elton John to sing at the 35th anniversary concert of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” She started her own band in 2001. They have performed a variety of genre such as blue, folk, rock and roll in many countries. McBride's debut album ‘Everything seemed alright', produced by Lou Whitney drew critical praise and the attention of Germany award winner Delbert McClinton. “It is an extraordinary moment in my life,” she said, expressing her joy during her first visit to Saudi Arabia. She added that all the people here are wonderful, they enjoy the music from the bottom of their heart and it's a great honor for her band to discover the rich Arabic music. __
