Four men accused of terrorist acts pleaded for clemency during their trial here Monday. Saudi Arabia is trying 85 alleged members of an Al-Qaeda-linked cell, which attacked three housing compounds for foreigners in Riyadh in 2003. The accused are said to belong to the Dandani cell, named after Turki Al-Dandani who was killed in a shoot-out with security forces in 2003, and are accused of killing and wounding 239 people in attacks on the compounds and other targets. During Sunday's session, the first defendant pledged his undying allegiance to Osama Bin Laden and requested that he be beheaded. The lawyer of the second, third, fourth and fifth defendants who were put on trial Monday said: “The accused condemn all the crimes perpetrated by terrorists in the Kingdom and (believe) that what is being carried out by Al-Qaeda are misguided and shameful crimes.” He told the court that they “confirm their allegiance to Saudi Arabia's ruler and have expressed their satisfaction with the justice system in the Kingdom.” The fourth defendant admitted the charges against him, but said he regreted his mistakes. The other defendants denied having any connection to the Dandani cell and denounced its terrorist activities. __
