Sheikh Saleh Bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan, a member of Ifta and the Board of Senior Ulema, has said that any act of disobedience against the ruler whether in the form of riots or instigative comments in newspapers, media outlets, books or bulletins aiming to create chaos and drive a wedge between the ruler and his people contravenes the Prophet's Sunnah. He said Sharia makes it imperative for a Muslim to advise the leader in secret as was the case of Osama Bin Yazid who used to advise the Caliph Othman Bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) in secret without speaking to others about it. This shows that rioting and chanting against the ruler is against Islamic teachings. Fourteen people, including 11 security personnel, were injured when riots erupted in Al-Awamiyah village in the eastern governorate of Al-Qatif, Monday night, the Interior Ministry said, blaming a “foreign country” for the unrest.
