The Detroit Lions, once NFL laughing stocks, staged another scintillating rally Sunday, erasing a 24-point second-half deficit to beat the Dallas Cowboys 34-30 and remain unbeaten. The Cowboys suffered their biggest blown lead in a defeat in club history, but they weren't the only club to waste an advantage Sunday. The San Francisco 49ers surged back from a 20-point deficit to beat Philadelphia 24-23. The 49ers couldn't slow Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who threw for a career-high 416 yards and ran for 75. Philadelphia's defense, however, couldn't hold the line as the NFC West-leading 49ers stormed back. Rookie Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton shrugged off a poor first half to lead the Bengals to a 23-20 victory over previously unbeaten Buffalo. And Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw two touchdown passes in a 58-second stretch late in the game to rally New York to a 31-27 victory over Arizona. In Dallas, the Cowboys led 27-3 after their opening drive of the third quarter, when Detroit's defense turned things around with two interceptions returned for touchdowns on successive drives. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson then combined for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including a two-yard score to win with 1:39 remaining. The victory came a week after Stafford and the Lions rallied from a 20-point halftime deficit for an overtime victory. They improved to 4-0 and avenged a defeat in Dallas last November that had been their NFL record 26th straight defeat on the road. Dallas meanwhile suffered its second significant collapse of the season, and its worst ever. Its previous biggest blown lead en route to a defeat was 21 points – in a 34-31 loss to Washington in 1965. Detroit's National Conference North division rival Green Bay, the reigning Super Bowl champion, also improved to 4-0 with a 49-23 victory over Denver. Elsewhere, Houston defeated Pittsburgh 17-10 in a game that saw Texans All-Pro receiver Andre Johnson sidelined by a hamstring injury early and Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffer a left foot injury late in a game in which he was sacked five times. New England's star signal-caller Tom Brady rebounded from a four-interception performance to throw for 226 yards in a 31-19 victory over Oakland. Tennessee beat Cleveland 31-13, New Orleans beat Jacksonville 23-10, Chicago beat Carolina 34-29, Baltimore beat the New York Jets 34-17 and Atlanta edged Seattle 30-28. Miami, Minnesota and St. Louis remained in search of their first victories of the season. San Diego downed the Dolphins 26-16, while Kansas City – winless going into Sunday – beat the Vikings 22-17 and Washington beat St. Louis 17
