An Arabic calligraphy exhibition by Pakistani artists was inaugurated at Sheraton Hotel Saturday by Saud Al-Sheikhi, Deputy Minister for Culture and Information. The exhibition titled “Allama Bil Qalam”, organized by the Consul General of Pakistan, will remain open till Oct. 4 and display the work of 16 renowned Pakistani calligraphers. Saud Al-Sheikhi said in his inaugural address that relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were historic and deep-rooted and that such events will further boost the ties, according to a press release from the Pakistani consulate. He said Saudis have high regard for the people of Pakistan, which could be felt by the presence of a large number of citizens at the exhibition. He said the Arabic script enjoys spiritual beauty, which the Pakistani calligraphers very well displayed. Muhammad Naeem Khan, the Pakistani ambassador, said in his welcome address that the participation of 16 top, award-winning calligraphers from Pakistan proves that Pakistan has preserved its Islamic heritage, culture and art. Abdul Salik Khan, the Consul General, said that his country has been globally acknowledged as a cradle of artisanship and calligraphy for centuries.
