Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeah, Minister of Health, has issued instructions assigning a team of engineers from the ministry and Jeddah Health Affairs to inspect Al-Qunfudha General Hospital's electrical system in the wake of power disruptions there. ?The hospital's internal electrical network needs replacement, said Ahmad Al-Harari, Director of the Electricity Administration in Al-Baha. Technicians found that there is “a problem resulting from the lack of maintenance of the hospital's medium-voltage equipment,” he said. “We have asked for this equipment to be replaced or maintained because the current situation may result in malfunctions in the general network, which will definitely affect the hospital.” The Saudi Electricity Company sent technicians to help repair the equipment at the hospital so that it can be fed by the company's network after it found that the hospital lacks technicians capable of dealing with the problem, Al-Harari said. The hospital's power network has been working for 27 years on the old system; if a malfunction occurs, it disrupts the network feeding all the sections of the hospital, officials said. The hospital's network needs to be replaced with one that is not affected by malfunctions and transfers loads automatically, they said. The SEC is ready to provide all that is needed to feed the hospital with power if the Health Affairs changes the network, they added. __
