It will provide information about early detection of the disease and its treatment. The campaign, which kicked off with an event at the Air Operations Building at King Abdul Aziz International Airport here, includes distributing brochures with information about the disease, ways to prevent it and its treatment. “Saudia is focusing on sponsoring medical, social, sporting and tourism activities in the Kingdom as part of the airline's social responsibility,” said Abdullah Al-Ajhar, VP Public Relations at Saudia. The early-detection process includes self-checks in the home, annual medical checks and mammograms, officials said. The campaign also includes activities to increase awareness about breast cancer and its different varieties, and the best treatments for the disease. The average age of Saudi women with breast cancer is 47, which is 10 years less than the average age of women who have it in the West, according to statistics cited by officials at the event. Among older women in the Kingdom, one in 15 between the ages of 60 and 79 has breast cancer. The ceremony was attended by Princess Haifa Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zahra Breast Cancer Association, and Khaled Al-Molhem, Director General of Saudia. __
