The Eastern Province police warned citizens Wednesday against exchanging any instigating messages through modern means of communication that may lead to illegal or improper behavior on the National Day. It said that it is approaching relevant bodies for implementing procedures to monitor and deal with such messages. Parents, school authorities and the media must monitor the use of mobile phones to ensure that these are not used for disseminating erroneous ideas and cooperate in reporting any misuse, said the police statement. The statement added that every citizen must be aware of the danger of exchanging such messages, and must report them without bearing any accountability by calling 999, any police patrol, or the nearest police station. The Eastern Province police warned against exploiting important events, such as the National Day, to promote messages and calls for unwanted gatherings in public places. It has set a security plan for the National Day and called on everybody to express their joy through means that do not harm anyone. __
