Number of girl students covered by the school transportation project doubledRIYADH – The Saudi National Day reminds us of great achievements made by the founder of the modern Kingdom, the late King Abdul Aziz, whose sons after him have been following in his footsteps, said King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, here Monday. Chairing the weekly Council of Ministers' session, the King said: “These achievements find their roots in the principles of the Holy Qur'an and the Prophet's Sunnah.” King Abdullah conveyed his hearty congratulations to the Saudi people, stressing that the National Day celebrations should reflect the values and morals of Saudis and their cultural and intellectual levels. The Cabinet approved recommendations by the Minister of Education to implement the second stage of school transportation assigned to the private sector for transporting the General Education female students and teachers. The recommendation stipulates covering more female students by the school transportation project. On the basis of the recommendations of the Supreme Economic Council, the Cabinet approved doubling the number of girls included in the service of school transportation from this academic year in areas where the project is successful. The Cabinet also approved the inclusion of male pupils and female teachers in the transportation service by this academic year, but on an experimental basis in some regions. The Cabinet approved recommendations by the Minister of Civil Service to fill the posts of directors of local auditing units with holders of post-graduate diploma in financial control or with those who have university degree in business administration, financial administration, or general administration. The exception period is limited to five years. King Abdullah briefed the Cabinet on the outcome of his talks, consultations and contacts made in the past few days with the leaders of a number of friendly countries and their envoys. The talks focused on ways of strengthening cooperation and covered the developments in the region. Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information, said the Cabinet heard a number of reports about developments in some Arab countries and praised the statement issued by the Arab League.
