Two municipal officials in Qatif and Al-Khobar, who allegedly abused their positions and colluded with the former deputy mayor for technical affairs at Jeddah Mayoralty, are being investigated over charges of facilitating land grants to ex-mayor's sons and relatives in strategic locations, informed sources told Okaz/Saudi Gazette. The former deputy mayor is facing charges over the Jeddah flood catastrophe and confessed to the investigators that he had colluded with two municipal officials in Qatif and Al-Khobar who helped him get 21 land grants in these cities, in addition to land grants in Jeddah. The ex-mayor, who took over his position in 1986, is one of the officials involved in this year's Jeddah flood disaster mismanagement, which claimed the lives of 120 people, caused injuries to 350 others and damage to 11,906 properties. The Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution requested Jeddah District Court to administer and impose severe penalties against him for his crimes. __
