Newton shines; Pittsburgh and Indianapolis lose EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Nick Folk kicked a 50-yard field goal with 27 seconds left, giving the New York Jets a 27-24 comeback victory over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday. With the game tied at 24, the Cowboys had a chance for a winning drive with 59 seconds left, but Tony Romo was intercepted on the first play by Darrelle Revis, who returned it 20 yards to Dallas' 34. Four plays later, Folk kicked the go-ahead field goal against his former team. The Jets tied it with five minutes left when Isaiah Trufant ran in a blocked punt from 18 yards for a touchdown. Plaxico Burress, in his first NFL game since 2008, caught four passes for 72 yards and a touchdown for the Jets. Houston 34, Indianapolis 7: Matt Schaub threw for 220 yards and a touchdown, Ben Tate rushed for 116 yards and another score in relief of injured Arian Foster, and the Texans dominated Kerry Collins, Peyton Manning's replacement. Baltimore 35, Pittsburgh 7: Joe Flacco threw three touchdown passes and host Baltimore easily beat the defending AFC champion. Ray Rice ran for 107 yards and scored twice for the Ravens, who bolted to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never let up against their bitter rivals. Philadelphia 31, St. Louis 13: Michael Vick rushed for 98 yards, LeSean McCoy scored twice and DeSean Jackson topped 100 yards receiving for visiting Philadelphia. The defense applied constant pressure and piled up five sacks, two by Justin Babin. Rams QB Sam Bradford (finger) and RB Steven Jackson (quadriceps) both left the game with injuries. Cincinnati 27, Cleveland 17: A.J. Green caught Cleveland's defense napping for his first career catch, a 41-yard touchdown from backup quarterback Bruce Gradkowski for visiting Cincinnati. Colt McCoy threw two TD passes for the Browns. Jacksonville 16, Tennessee 14: Maurice Jones-Drew scored in his return from knee surgery, and host Jacksonville held on for the win. Titans star Chris Johnson ran nine times for 24 yards and caught six passes for 25 yards. San Francisco 33, Seattle 17: Ted Ginn Jr. returned a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns in a minute's span late in the fourth quarter, and host San Francisco gave Jim Harbaugh a win in his much-hyped NFL debut and renewed coaching rivalry with Pete Carroll. Ginn ran a kickoff back 102 yards moments after the defending NFC West champion Seahawks had closed within 19-17. Arizona 28, Carolina 21: Cam Newton, the No. 1 draft pick, completed 24 of 37 passes for 422 yards and two touchdowns with one interception, the first rookie to throw for more than 400 yards in his NFL opener. But Patrick Peterson returned a punt 89 yards for the go-ahead touchdown and host Arizona escaped with a win. Kevin Kolb was 18 of 27 for 309 yards and two touchdowns in his first game for Arizona.
