Souq Okaz's presence on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter has attracted a lot of interest, said Muhammad Samman, Director of its Media Committee. “Although the Souq Okaz account on Facebook was set up a month ago, it already has 174 people who like it and 314 active users per day,” he said. “There have been 23,331 people who have read the news posted on the page.” The large number of visitors to Souq Okaz's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/sqokaz) reflects the importance of expanding its use and promoting it to attract more people, Samman added. “The website will allow the supervision committee to promote and advertise next year's awards on it,” he said. The Souq Okaz account on Twitter (twitter.com/soqokaz), has attracted more than 320 followers and its Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/user/sooqokaz), which has 20 videos, has attracted more than 1,000 viewers, Samman said. The Media Committee will promote Souq Okaz's activities and programs via TV, radio and other media outlets in cooperation with the local and Arabian mass media, Samman added. Activities and programs will also be videotaped and broadcast through the social-media sites, he added. Souq Okaz is set to begin on Sept. 20.
