King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has approved naming the Central Library at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University after Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz. Prof. Dr. Sulaiman Bin Abdullah Abal Khail, President of the university, said the library has been designed according to high quality standards which facilitate obtaining the required information rapidly using modern methods. He said the library has rare international journals and periodicals and has been provided with all the old and modern books and various manuscripts. Besides, the library has over 8000 rare books. He added that the library has digitalized the theses and manuscripts. It has also been supported with high quality means of modern technology and science as well as electronic media to serve researchers worldwide and providing the suitable atmosphere for research and reading. The library organizes exhibitions every year for rare manuscripts and participates in about 30 internal and international exhibitions annually. Hence, this brings the number of books in the library to over 1.5 million books and titles and 30,000 manuscripts. The library encompasses 15 private endowment libraries considered to be the rarest and best in the world. These were donated by Ulema, scholars and their families. __
