Wahab Abu-Suleiman, a member of the Commission of Senior Ulema has won the Riyadh Literary Club's Annual Book Award for his book on Al-Salam Gate of the Holy Mosque of Makkah. The award was presented Tuesday night at the Riyadh Literary Club in a ceremony graced by Minister of Culture and Information Iyad Madani. Abu-Suleiman's book contains biographies of several scholars and intellectuals who resided in the vicinity of the Holy Mosque. Dr. Saad Al-Bazi, chairman of the club, said the annual prize reflects the club's social responsibility and aims to promote literary and cultural works. The Minister said this year's prize shows how much literary clubs have strongly entered the cultural domain. The prize-winning book illustrates the cultural role played by the people of Makkah towards literary development, Madani added.
