Syrian actress Lina Diab accused some traditional Syrian drama of being unjust to Syrian women. In a statement to “Al Khaleej” Emirati newspaper, she noted: “not all series, but some show women as dependent, weak illiterate and ignorant”. Adding: “while the truth rings far from such, as Syrian women are strong and manage their households and families very well”. Lina revealed there was a revolutionary streak in women of that era, but drama rarely tackled it. However, it was well tackled in the persona of “Om Joseph” played by Mona Wassef in “Bab Al Hara”. The strong woman was also portrayed by the actress Nadine in the series “Al Dabour” and “Karima” the rebel played by Lina in the same project. Compiled by Saudi Gazette __
