The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) has donated SR4 million for the “Days of Giving” campaign that was launched by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the beginning of Ramadan to face up the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Somalia, a press release said Thursday. A media campaign was also launched by the OIC in Ramadan to create awareness about the situation of the Somali people. Dr. Saleh Bin Soliman Alwoheibi, Secretary General of WAMY, expressed his appreciation for Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the OIC, for taking up the noble initiative. Somalia has been affected by the worst famine and draught in decades. Hundreds of thousands of people face starvation, the United Nations has said.
