Saudi contracting firm Abdullah A M Al Khodari Sons Company said Saturday it has been awarded a SR120.7 million ($32.1 million) contract by the Ministry of Interior. In a statement posted on the Tadawul website, the company said it has received a receipt of award letter from the Ministry for the construction of the second phase of Border Guard Airport in Umm Almelh in the Empty Quarter. The letter specified that construction must be completed within 720 days from the date of contract signing. The first phase of this project is part of the company's current projects, it said. Last month, Britain's largest infrastructure contractor Balfour Beatty plans to join Abdullah A M Al Khodari Sons Co to bid for a railway project in the Kingdom. Saudi Arabia plans to link its industrial city of Jubail and Dammam port to a network that connects to mining centers through Ras Al-Khair. Saudi Railway Co. (SAR) said last month it had invited Saudi and global companies to pre-qualify for the Ras Al-Khair-Jubail link and the deadline for tendering is July 30.
