The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for donating foodstuffs enough for 56,000 families in Gaza Strip as part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Campaign for the relief of the Palestinians in Gaza Strip. In a statement, UNRWA said “the generous donation by the Kingdom, led by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, provides poor families in Gaza Strip with basic foods including flour, rice, sugar, cooking oil, and legumes to alleviate their daily sufferings. Peter Ford, UNRWA special representative, said his organization greatly appreciates the commitment and generosity of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques toward Palestinian refugees, adding that the assistance comes at a convenient time for UNRWA as Gaza people currently suffer from severe shortage of food. Ford also expressed thanks to Prince Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, who is also the Supervisor General of the relief campaign for the Palestinians. He also thanked the people of the Kingdom for their support for UNRWA.
