Officials from 70 national recruitment offices in the Eastern Province met Saturday to discuss plans for unified recruitment companies to replace recruitment offices. The plans include establishing five recruitment companies throughout the Kingdom, said Hussein Al-Mutairi, a member of the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce's Recruitment Committee. Details about the plan would be revealed in the days ahead, he added. Representatives of the recruitment offices met at the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry's headquarters to discuss the plans and a number of recruitment-related matters, Al-Mutairi said. Those at the meeting discussed strategies in response to the Ministry of Labor's recent approval of regulations that allow development of recruitment offices for short-term employment of workers or domestic helpers, he said. There is a plan to establish a company with SR100 million, half of which would be used to establish arrangements for short-term employment, with the other half used to recruit workers, according to Al-Mutairi. Procedures for distributing the shares in the company would be established in future meetings, he added. Under the proposal, participants would agree on a formula to distribute shares among all the offices, which would get loans from national banks if necessary, according to Al-Mutairi.
