The implementation of projects and construction of service utilities for Haj pilgrims have been approved in a meeting chaired by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah region, here Saturday. The third session of the third round of Makkah Regional Council saw a review of transport during Haj, road projects proposed for next year's budget and mechanisms to develop transport infrastructure in the region. Prince Khaled discussed the minutes of the meetings of the local councils for Taif, Raniah, Al-Qunfudha, Rabigh, Al-Jumoom, Khulaiss, Al-Kamel, Al-Leeth and Al-Khurmah including their needs for projects and developmental and services utilities. He approved the recommendations offered in a report prepared by the Central Haj Committee. The Emir of Makkah reviewed the agenda, which included the minutes of the 10th meeting for the Projects and Utilities Committee, the national strategy for transport and the study on public transport systems in the region's cities as well as its execution plans. These plans include developing the infrastructure for transport and cargo. Those at the meeting also approved six proposed mechanisms for executing the national strategy for transport and discussed proposed road projects in the Ministry of Transport's draft budget for the coming fiscal year. Prince Khaled stressed to all government and private authorities and workers related to serving Umrah pilgrims and visitors that they should exert their utmost efforts to provide the best services to Umrah pilgrims that are still in the Kingdom and those arriving during the holy month of Ramadan. In its meeting, the Central Haj Committee discussed subjects related to transportation, accommodation and preparations for the Haj season, and reviewed operational plans and execution mechanisms for authorities during the Ramadan season. Officials also discussed arrangements and preparations for the departure of Umrah pilgrims from King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah and following up on work there to ensure comfort and peace of mind for Umrah pilgrims and visitors. __
