The electronic fingerprinting system at the Expatriates Administration in the Passports Department of Makkah region has prevented the departure and escape of 1,475 expatriates to their countries under false names. These expatriates were arrested by the department in campaigns targeting illegal aliens during the period from May 5 until Saturday. First Lt. Jameel Al-Bishri, Supervisor of the Fingerprinting Unit in the Expatriates Administration of Makkah region, said the sophisticated technology for registering biometrics including fingerprints and iris scan has had great results in curbing cheating forgery. He said the system is among the latest in the world and has provided the department with an integrated database for every person whose fingerprints have been taken such that he can be exposed while providing false information. Col. Hussein Al-Harthi, Director of the Expatriates Administration in Makkah region, said his administration has made big strides in accomplishing the procedures for beneficiaries from the royal amnesty granted to illegal aliens. __
