Inspection of vegetables, meat, fish and other food products at all markets here is being carried out much more aggressively in the days ahead of Ramadan. The Mayor's Office in Tabuk wants to free markets of expired goods and ensure prices are not increased before Ramadan. Throughout the blessed month, inspection teams will work in two shifts, the Director of Environmental Health at the Mayor's Office said. Inspectors detect products unfit for human consumption, he said, adding that places of monitoring include slaughterhouses, which receive a large number of sheep during the first days of Ramadan, to check if they are committed to health and safety requirements. Restaurants are also inspected, he added. The Mayor's Office also intends to give sites on rent to street vendors, the director said, emphasizing that the vendors too will be monitored to check the quality of Ramadan meals they sell. __
