The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (the Hai'a) was Wednesday asked to adopt modern methods in its dealing with the people. “This is because human beings come up with more sophisticated violations with time,” Dr. Saleh Bin Humaid, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, member of the Board of Senior Ulema and Imam of the Grand Mosque, said during his open meeting with the Hai'a staffers at the premises of the Society for Memorization of the Holy Qur'an here. Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Jihani, Chairman of the Hai'a in Taif, and directors of different departments of the commission were also present during the occasion. Dr. Bin Humaid reminded the Hai's staffers that although there were many hardships in their work, they should always be patient in dealing with the people. He called on the Hai'a men to update their methods for dealing with people according to the changes of the age. “Almighty Allah has chosen you to carry out this honorable profession which is full of difficulties. But my advic e is to deal with all issues with patience,” he said. It is one of the greatest tasks of the prophets; i.e. confronting people, showing them the right path as well as apprehending the violators, he said. “Mistakes existed even during the era of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In field work, there might be a slow pace by some or impetuousness by others leading to wrong practices. One cannot keep pace with the many violations with the advancement and sophisticated methods in this modern age,” he said. Bin Humaid advised the Hai'a staff to adapt themselves to these difficult stands and be kind and merciful to the Ummah. He said they should be firm in their task but gentle in their hearts. “In carrying out your task, you should always remember you are seeking reward from Allah. Hence, you should always be sincere,”Bin Humaid told the Hai'a staffers. __
