Nearly 60,000 jobs for Saudi women will be created as the Ministry of Education completes final procedures toward employing sales women at canteens of girls schools. The women will be employed at a salary of SR3,000 per month. The jobs will be available in for all sections – kindergarten, primary, intermediate, and secondary – of schools. Headmistresses in some regions have been granted the liberty to decide on how they want to operate their school canteens, either by outsourcing it to private catering companies or by managing it within the school itself. The Ministry of Education has permitted this in all sections. In Hail region, the General Administration for Education conducted an opinion poll in boys and girls schools to decide if school canteens should be operated by private catering services or by the school itself for the upcoming academic year 2011/2012. Khalid Abdul Mushin Al-Turaiqi, Acting Director General of Education in Hail region, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the results of the poll were 100 percent in favor of self-operation. He said workshops and training sessions were held for a number of school headmistresses and canteen supervisors. Ideas and plans gathered in these workshops were placed before the Consultative Council for male and female teachers. The mechanism for self-operation of canteens in girls schools were discussed. The resulting plan met the requirements and concerns of students and was in line with the necessary regulations. __
