Tourists visiting Asir Region enjoy dream-journey flights over the area and see clouds close to them and clouds that embrace the Green Mountain and its plains overlooking Abha. The 10-minute trips carry visitors over Asir's green highlands and plateaus. Dr. Muhammad Ali Al-Misfir, who developed the idea of “Discover Asir from the Sky,” said, “This is the second year we are running the dream-journey project, thanks to the support and encouragement of Prince Faisal Bin Khaled Bin Abdul Aziz, Emir of Asir Region and the Chairman of the Board of Tourism Development in the region. Dr. Al-Misfir said the plane can carry 13 passengers and there is a high demand from visitors. “The journey takes 10 minutes, the number of daily passengers exceeds 95 and it is higher on Thursdays and Fridays,” he said. The journey takes off toward west Abha and passes by New Abha, Abha Dam, the Green Mountain in the south and downtown. Passengers can see the city of Abha and its outskirts while alongside the clouds, Dr. Al-Misfir added. You can see a large number of tourists from Gulf countries awaiting their turn to take the one of the flights, which start at 3:00 P.M. and end at 6:00 P.M. Saud Abo Ali, a Kuwaiti, described the flight as the most beautiful journey ever and said breath-taking and mesmerizing scenes can be viewed. “Abha is getting more beautiful, but its real beauty is uncovered during the dream journey,” he said. Abdulrahman Al-Masadi, a visitor from the United Arab Emirates, agreed that the short trip is a big treat. “My family and I enjoyed the journey,” he said. “The summer in Asir has a special flavor.” Captain Ali Hassan Elaweh, the pilot, said that the airplane flies at an altitude of 1,000 feet, weather permitting, and that passengers are dazzled by what they see. “Dream journeys are a hit because Asir has various environmental and geographical attractions,” he said. “I see the smiles and happiness mixed with amazement on passengers' faces who gape at the region's mesmerizing beauty.”
