International Indian School, Riyadh (IISR) is working on a project to inculcate reading habit in students. The school, in cooperation with Microsoft Corporation, has created about 10,000 e-mail accounts for each student enrolled at the school so as to exchange e-books. “I want every student to develop reading habit, and the exchange of e-books would be a positive step in this direction,” said M.J. Siddiqui, IISR principal. He said Microsoft was impressed with the outstanding work of the IT section of the school. The computer giant gave away prizes to students by picking e-mail IDs in a raffle draw. Microsoft has offered the winners two laptops, two Xbox sets and 100 VIP Dream Spark cards. Siddiqui said the school plans to establish well-coordinated communication with students and teachers through group e-mails sent to parents. He said that IISR is planning to send e-books to students through their e-mail IDs “because it is difficult to issue books to 10,000 students on a daily basis. But at least on a weekly basis we can send e-books to our students,” he said.
