Researchers at King Abdulaziz City for Sciences And Technology (KACST) are exerting extensive efforts in enriching Arabic Content in Wikipedia, as part of King Abdullah Initiative for Arabic Content that opts to translate worthy scientific contents in Wikipedia into Arabic. The step is very important to support Arabic digital content and scientific and knowledge resources for Arab readers. Although Arabic is the fourth most popular language in the world, the Arabic version of Wikipedia still ranks 25th in terms of volume. It was earlier ranked 27th. But with large and concentrated scientific contributions underway, the goal is now to push the Arabic version to Rank 10. According to its bulletin, King Saud University (KSU) stands first in the competition launched by the KACST for scientific contribution, followed by King Faisal University and Taibah University. Solo contributions by women have been significant. Aisah Al-Zahim from KSU stood first in translating articles; Aminah Al-Oaid, also from KSU, came second; and Latifah from KFU was third. King Abdullah Initiative for Arabic Content includes a number of Arabic language research projects such as Wikipedia Arabic enriching project, the Arabic Blog, the Interactive Arabic Dictionary, Arabic Search Engine, Automated Arabic Articles, and the National Strategy to Enrich Arabic Content.
