Baik restaurants has increased the price of its main meal by one riyal. The new prices will be SR12. The increase, sources say, is because of a hike in the price of frozen chicken and operational costs. It is to be noted that the Al-Baik chain was the only restaurant group in the Kingdom to reduce the price of its main meal when the chicken prices came down in 2008. Prices of frozen and fresh chicken have increased by 10 to 15 percent as the holy month of Ramadan gets closer. Chilled chicken prices have jumped to SR16 per kg from SR15 while the price of a 1.4-kg frozen chicken has risen to SR16.5. Sources expect the prices to go up further especially during Ramadan and Haj when the demand increases. __
