Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH: Two Saudi artists have won two out of four Oskar prizes at the Cairo International Culture and Arts Biennale which was held recently entitled “Revolution and Unity”. Muhammad Al-Thaqafi won the sculpture prize while Waheeb Zaqzooq won the plastic arts prize. Over 60 artists from all over the world participated in this international event. Many Saudi participants said their performance proves that Saudi art is improving. “This prize means the world to me and the event has given me an opportunity to meet artists from all over the world,” said Al-Thaqafi. He said sculpture in the Kingdom is world class, which he believes can be attributed to the country's desert environment. Saudi sculpture attracts a lot of attention abroad, he added. __
