BAHA: Prince Bandar Bin Saud Bin Mohammed, Secretary General of the Saudi Commission for Wildlife (SWC), inaugurated here on Tuesday an awareness program entitled “The Importance of Wildlife Preservation”. In his inaugural speech, Prince Bandar shed light on the most important issues relating to the preservation of wildlife in the Kingdom and abroad. Among the SWC's successes are the resettlement of the Arabian gazelle and the Arabian leopard and the repopulation of Houbara Bustards in the Kingdom. In an earlier report in Okaz/Saudi Gazette, Prince Bandar said that the commission will be restructured at the beginning of next year and that more up-to-date technology will be introduced to assist in conservation work. He also said that the SWC “will have a public awareness program running across the country”. Prince Bandar said the organization's restructuring would entail “awareness, training, and forging relations with relevant authorities and local communities near protectorates”. “The biggest challenge we face is humans,” he said. “We are confident, however, that the people will be an active part of the environment conservation movement.”
