JEDDAH: Iqra satellite channel is to produce television programs for Muslim communities in English, French, Urdu and Malay, according to Muhammad Salam, head of the channel. Salam said the channel is working to make special programs for those language communities and broadcast them either on the main Iqra channel or through Iqra International, a multi-language channel scheduled to be launched in the near future. Salam was recently in London to attend a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the Muslim Club in the UK capital, where he met with community members and leading Islamic figures from London and Paris to hear their suggestions for television programs for Muslims in Britain and France. During Ramadan, Iqra plans to broadcast a series of lectures by renowned Saudi preacher and bestselling author Ayidh Al-Qarni. Al-Qarni is currently recording the lectures, which form part of his Ramadan special on the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him), at Riyadh's King Khaled Mosque in the Umm Al-Hamam District.
