MANILA: Trailing for most parts of the game, the Alaska Aces fired their afterburners in the final canto to streak past the B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados 107-102 Wednesday night for their first win in three games in the PBA Governor's Cup. Import Jason Forte led the Aces with 29 points while Sonny Thoss had 20 markers. But it was LA Tenorio who provided the sparks in the fourth quarter that turned the game around for Alaska. Tenorio finished with 16 points on 6-of-10 field goals and three assists. James Yap led the Llamados with with 28 points. Import Stefhon Hannah added 18 markers, while Peter June Simon had 17. B-Meg suffered its first loss after winning its opening game against the Powerade Tigers 103-90 last Friday. The opening match in the double-header at the Araneta Coliseum saw the Powerade Tigers notching their first win in the tourney against the hard-luck Air21 Express 109-91. With Powerade main man Gary David still in sickbay, rookies Sean Anthony and Jai Reyes stepped up big time to deliver the goods for the Tigers. Anthony finished with a personal career-high 21 points while Reyes also had a career-high of 14, including nine points in a pivotal 16-3 fourth-quarter run in the final 5:35 of the match.
