JEDDAH: The buildings of King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA) will be converted into an international air freight facility, said Muhammad Abed, Director of the Airport, in a report carried by Al-Madina Arabic daily. He made the comment while addressing media representatives about the changes being introduced by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). He also pointed out that 22 surveillance cameras have been installed at different terminals connected to his office and the authorities concerned to monitor the smooth flow of work. He also announced that 90 percent of the regular arrival and departure flights of Umrah pilgrims will be transferred to the Haj and Umrah terminals. Apart from this, the customers' telephone helpline 920011223 has been reactivated; the parking fees have been reduced from SR5 to SR3 per hour; and the waiting period at the departure terminals has been increased from 10 to 15 minutes. The improvements made at the airport include setting up a currency exchange company and another to provide prepaid mobile telephone cards to passengers at the arrivals terminals.
