JEDDAH: The 12th mass wedding festival, with 1,200 grooms, will be held on June 29 at the Jeddah Exhibition and Convention Center. Emir of Makkah Province Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the honorary chairman of the Youth Marriage Assistance and Family Counseling Society, will patronize the event. “This mass marriage festival has the support of our leaders in the Kingdom and it is considered a part of social cooperation and solidarity among the people of this country,” said Abdulmohsen Al-Khayyal, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society, which is organizing the event. Abdullah Al-Othaim, a member of the Society's Board of Directors, said the gathering aims to reduce the costs young people face in getting married and show the cooperative role of the private and public sectors in terms of social solidarity. The program has helped 54,130 Saudi youths get married, officials said, adding that the Youth Marriage Assistance and Family Counseling Society is dedicated to helping youths get married, preparing them for their married lives by organizing family programs and overcoming the problem of spinsterhood.
