DAMMAM: Saudis will be allowed to enroll at foreign schools only if the learning institutions segregate boys and girls, according to a circular issued by the Ministry of Education. A school that wants to admit Saudis must apply to the ministry's Private and Foreign Education Department. The department has to form a committee to visit the school and assess the pupils' separation before approving the application. Schools violating this condition would be banned from enrolling Saudi pupils, the ministry said. The ministry also ordered its regional education administrations not to allow the transfer of a pupil from a public school to a foreign school until it confirms the school has an international academic accreditation, has no Shariah and other violations, and scored more than 800 points in the Foreign Schools' Assessment Record. It should also have Islamic Studies and Saudi Arabian history and geography as subjects.
