day workshop on rain and flood water drainage is scheduled to begin today under the patronage of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah and Chairman of the Subcommittee for Tackling Rain and Flood Water Problems. A total of 18 government authorities will also attend the event being held at a local hotel in Jeddah. Sultan Al-Dowsari, Director General of Studies and Public Relations in Makkah region's governorate (Emir's Office), said the workshop aims to brief all concerned government authorities on the projects that will provide an urgent and permanent solution to the rain and flood water problems in the city. There will also be efforts undertaken to ensure there is coordinated and integrated action and an exchange of expertise. Al-Dowsari said the workshop would contribute in laying down high quality specifications and standards for all the projects and create a spirit of teamwork between the project's administration and the different government and private authorities. He said participants will discuss a number of topics, including a detailed presentation by Engineer Ahmad Al-Saleem, Director General of the project, on the scope of the work. The workshop will discuss how to make sure the various stakeholders can contribute their skills and specializations effectively. A special team will be set up to ensure proper coordination takes place by removing all obstacles and difficulties.
