As part of the World Milk Day celebrated on June 1 every year, hundreds of children and parents took part in a celebration at the Red Sea Mall in Jeddah, Wednesday. This marks the first time that World Milk Day is celebrated in Jeddah. This event, organized by Tetra Pak Arabia, focused on increasing the awareness of milk protected in long-life carton packages. A range of activities such as ceramic coloring, cow quiz, cow drawing competitions and a variety of interactive games centred on the topic of healthy and nutritious milk. Free samples of different kinds of milk were distributed to children attending the event in order to make them aware of the different products available. The World Milk Day is promoted by Food & Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. Milk is the primary source of vitamins and minerals, such as saturated fat, protein, calcium and Vitamin C, all of which are important elements in the development of childrens. Due to the importance of milk, the milk packaging industry became one of the worlds largest industries. “World Milk Day gives us a great opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of milk consumption protected in carton packages through a fun-filled educational platform,” said Jesus Ortega, Dairy Category Manager, Tetra Pak Arabia. “We also believe it is necessary for everyone to learn the nutritional and healthy aspects of drinking milk on a daily basis.” Tetra Pak Arabia has, in the past, taken part in a variety of social activities and in educating the public on worldwide events. This year's event tried to educate people about the importance of recycling and how recycling protects the environment. This event in Jeddah is part of a regional campaign, which includes Kuwait, Bahrain and the UAE. __
