The Preventive Security Section of Yanbu Police has dealt a severe blow to a bootlegging network and arrested its members after being tipped that several car washers were selling alcohol to youths. The Preventive Security Section under the command of Col. Ibrahim Al-Hazmi was able to penetrate the network through a source who said he could purchase six bottles for SR200 from an Indian bootlegger. The security agencies were able to arrest the two, who gave information about a distillery in a slum district that distilled and distributed liquor through expatriate car-washers. A security force was dispatched to the area, but the Indian owner escaped through a window. At the scene 111 bottles of alcohol were found. Two large containers each with a capacity of 1000 liters and a several dozen empty bottles, presumably for distribution of the contraband were also found. During the operation, the owner of the residential building was present and said he did not notice anything suspicious regarding the tenant. The case has been referred to Al-Balad Police Station with follow up by Brig. Gen. Jameel Al-Rehaili, Director of Jeddah Police. The seized alcohol was destroyed. – Okaz __
